The students from 25 primary and secondary schools across Macedonia are being introduced with different topics related to media literacy within the subject of mother tongue during April. These classes are part of the evaluation process of the project “Media literacy education in Macedonia” which has been running since 2009 and is conducted by the Macedonian Institute for Media, the Institute for Democracy and the European Journalism Center in cooperation with the Bureau of Education Development.
Around 50 trainings for about 1,000 teachers from primary and secondary schools have been held within the project since its beginning. During the evaluation phase, 25 trained teachers will apply the acquired knowledge and practical skill in class. On the classes realized in the meantime the students had opportunity to create front page, to analyze newspapers, to write news and other similar topics from the field of media literacy.
